Barry Schutte
Schutte spent the last 5 years at Miami University as the associate head hockey coach (2019-2024). He significantly contributed to the program's development on and off the ice. Under his leadership, the RedHawks improved in key areas despite challenging seasons. In 2022-23, Miami achieved notable wins against top teams, while 22 players earned NCHC All-Academic honors. In Schutte's first season, he helped Miami improve offensively, ranking 10th nationally in power-play efficiency. Before joining the RedHawks, he spent previous seasons in various roles with Bowling Green State University and the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario, native played four seasons at Miami, helping the team qualify for its second-ever NCAA Tournament as a senior during the 1996-97 campaign. He tallied 58 points on 25 goals and 33 assists over 131 games. He received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Miami in 1997. He and his wife, Carey, have three children, Hallie, Brady, and Colin.
